*NEWS*
* VILLAGE HALL SKITTLES *
Next skittles night is 27th March 2010
Excellent family fun for all; don't forget to bring your own drinks and snacks.
* LESLIE MARR *
An article, apparently no longer available from the Shropshire Star (but retrieved using the excellent 'Wayback Machine' at www.archive.org), about artist Leslie Marr has been added to the Places and People of interest page. He recalls the happy months he spent in Pulverbatch which persuaded him to give up a promising career as a documentary film-maker and return to his first love, painting.
* OTTER SIGHTING *
Rob Thorne has found and photographed otter footprints in the snow near Brookside Cottages. Nice to know we have such a lovely animal visiting the village.

* VILLAGE HALL EXTENSION *
The work on the extension is very nearly finished. The new toilets are in and working and the new lobby has a light, airy feel to it as well as being nice and warm as a result of the new radiators. There is still a little work to be done as the outside still needs painting as well as a few finishing touches to other areas.
Linda Russell has done a fantastic job of managing the whole process and has even persuaded the financiers to include in our grant the cost of re-roofing the whole hall to a matching and insulated standard to the new extension.
* NEW - WILDLIFE GARDENING *
Tips for managing your garden in a wildlife friendly way will be updated each month. Click here for March's tips or on wildlife gardening in the menu bar.
* DOG MESS on the KNAPP *
The litter bin on the Knapp, supplied by Shropshire Council, is designed to accept dog mess, suitably bagged, as well as litter so please use it for this purpose and encourage visitors to do the same.
* TIPS FOR DEALING WITH UNSOLICITED MAIL OR CALLS *
Learn how to take revenge on telemarketers or those who send junk mail.
* PHOTO GALLERIES *
Two new photo galleries have been added. One showing the 1982 Snowfall in Pulverbatch with pictures taken by Olga Carswell on 8th January 1982. The other has A selection of action shots from the village hall fun day 2009.
Links have been added to the main photo galleries page to enable access to certain documents which no longer seem accessible directly from the historic gallery.
* POLICE REPORT *
Our local police officer, PC 2681 David Harte, has recently issued this report into crime and prevention methods in the Shrewsbury Rural South area.
* RECYCLE PLASTIC BOTTLE CAPS *
Collect all the plastic caps from your bottles for recycling. Deliver them by the bagful to the Royal Mail Customer Services office on Castle Foregate where Mike Loveridge will sell them for recycling and donate the proceeds to charity.
* WANTED *
A local person to understudy the Pulverbatch webmaster with a view to taking over the village website once property conditions permit.
Welcome
The purpose of the website is to provide an open means of communication for any group in the parish who wishes to make use of it and to provide visitors or residents with local information.
It will have as many sections or pages as there is demand for with links to the rest of the site as well as links to other relevant local sites. There is a brief description of the parish together with some village history and views both past and present. A location map indicates the position of Pulverbatch in the northern foothills of the Long Mynd. There is an hourly bus service for six days a week from Shrewsbury to Pulverbatch. (Click here for the geological history of the area.)
Any group, formal or otherwise, can have its own page with sub-pages if they wish, to explain what they do, when and where they meet, who to contact, extra information about a particular event, or anything else they may wish to let people know about. Someone with an idea for a local organisation that doesn't yet exist (eg a local history society?) could float it here and see what support emerges.
The site has been deliberately kept simple to make it quicker to load and easier to read and use. However, it is a first attempt and the intention is to maintain, update and improve it as time passes. All comments, criticisms, complaints, suggestions or material for content or even positive remarks are welcomed by the webmaster; or call Andrew Wood on 718668.
